Are You Ready To Quit?

Bad breath, stained teeth, an increased risk of oral cancers... the oral health related reasons to end your relationship with tobacco is endless.

May 31^st is World No-Tobacco Day. If you were looking for a quit date, we can't think of a more definitive one on the calendar.

Whether you smoke or not, oral cancer screening should be an integral part of your routine dental exam. If we haven't seen your smile in a while you can request an appointment here.

Smoking And Your Oral Health

We all know how bad smoking is for your overall health, but what about your oral health? Smoking has extremely detrimental effects on your mouth and teeth.

Some of the oral complications that can result from tobacco use include:

Increased risk of oral cancer
Increased the risk of gum disease
Gum tissue damage causing receding gums, exposed roots, increased sensitivity and decay
Bad breath
Stains that cannot be removed by brushing
Build up of tartar resulting in more frequently needed dental cleanings
Damaged sense of smell and taste

Greater Toronto REALTORS® reported 10,350 transactions through the TorontoMLS System in April 2012. This level of sales was 18 per cent higher than the 8,778 firm deals reported in April 2011. The strongest sales growth was reported in the single-detached market segment, with transactions of this home type up by 22 per cent compared to a year ago.

The average price for April 2012 transactions was $517,556 - up 8.5 per cent compared to April 2011. While price growth was strongest for single-detached homes, the better-supplied condominium apartment segment experienced a more moderate annual rate of price growth, at four per cent.
